DRYWALL FINISHING
From Taping & Mudding to Level 5 Finishes

Whether you're renovating your basement or adding an addition to your home, you can count on Lakeside Repairs to quickly and professionally tape and mud your newly boarded space to whatever level of finish best suits your project.

1. Pre-fills & Preparation
Most drywall requires some level of pre-filling to address blown out corners and uneven joints, whether hung by a general contractor or a DIY situation. We take time at the beginning of the work to bring everything up to where it needs to be to ensure a flat, smooth finish that resists the expected stresses placed on interior wall finishes.

2. Embedding Tape
The most common drywall tape failure we come across on the repairs side of the business is caused by not enough mud being applied to glue down the paper tape. With great skill and attention to detail, we make sure that every joint we tape is adequately loaded before embedding tape to give proper strength to our work.
3. 1st Coat, 2nd Coat, Float Coat
Once the tape has dried, usually overnight, we begin successive coats of mud over joints, corner beads, and screws in order to flatten and feather everything to a point where minimal sanding is required. This is usually completed over the course of a few days, but can be accomplished same day on smaller jobs using fast setting compounds.

4. Level 5 Finish
Depending on the lighting in a given area, a level 5 finish may be desired. In this case we skim an entire wall or ceiling so that every square inch of a surface has the same texture and level of suction. This ensures that primer and paint will be absorbed evenly across the surface and looks consistent even in harsh glancing light conditions.
